Diageo Bar Academy Presents: Generation CollaboratioN
Diageo Bar Academy trainer for the North and Scotland, Marc McParland (ex-General Manager at The Gate and Head Bartender at Kelvingrove Cafe) and guest speakers Andy Gemmell (owner of The Gate, Glasgow) and Claire Warner (Head of Luxury Advocacy at Diageo Luxury Company) will dive into the subject of generational differences in the UK bar industry and tackle how to bridge the gap between these groups, to build strong empathetic teams.
This seminar looks at the socio, cultural and economic backgrounds that have driven each of the recent generations and the impact this has had on their approach to drinks creation, work ethic and communication. From the rise of the internet, consumerism and social media, to the effects of Covid and the cost of living crisis - this discussion highlights the vast differences in cultures, but aims to show how understanding your own communication style can nurture all generations to keep the industry thriving.
